Project Description
The Andrew Higgins corridor has the potential to be a pedestrian link between the New Orleans Convention Center, the Museum District and the Union Passenger Terminal, which is a multi-modal transfer center. Of note is the location of the National WWII Museum campus at the intersection of Magazine Street and Andrew Higgins Drive. The National WWII Museum is a catalyst for economic development in the area.
This project was commissioned by the Regional Planning Commission as a transit and community livability study and awarded to Manning Architects in 2008. The project is a comprehensive planning study, which involved extensive stakeholder and agency coordinations, development of transit and urban design alternatives for the corridor, as well as final recommendations. The final deliverable for this project was a Phase 0 Feasibility Study and supporting document. As the project manager for this project I was responsible for coordination of subconsultants, graphically and verbally presenting urban design concepts to the client and stakeholders, and preparation of a all urban design documents and drawings.
